Let “The Once and Future Queen” bring you into its world
I’m back again with another review, this time from a Trilogy you have already heard of. You may remember my review for The Soul in the Sword (and I just noticed I never posted for its sequel!). But today, I am here for the last book in the Trilogy The Once and Future Queen and did I love it? Absolutely yes.
THE BOOK [CAREFUL WITH SPOILERS]
The story starts from where it last left: after her father’s death, Brianna is officially the new Queen and with her new role, so weights on her shoulder the promise of liberating the Fey. But freedom is not so easy to achieve and each and everyone of her decision may come with consequences. Some of which even catastrophic.
Aidan is still on her side, now in charge of the Pendragon Estates and trying his best to make amends to Brianna. Their secrets are finally out, but the distance between them seems too far and uncrossable.
But the problems at court are nowhere near the troubles that Morrigan, hidden in Abbadon, can and will cause for their kingdom. And to save their land and their people, Brianna and Aidan will have to make a new journey, this time right through the living Hell.
MY COMMENTS
I think it was probably clear from my first review of this trilogy how much I have loved the book. I will admit that I first started it for its similarities with Miraculous Ladybug – and even though I have not been disappointed – the story itself proved to be so much more that just a retelling. Everything was carefully crafted to create a story that had beauty on its own and saying that I devoured the book won’t even be a lie. I am not sure if all is because of the easy language used by the author, or if I was just so immersed I couldn’t even notice the time passing. Just hours after receiving the book from the post, I had already finished it.
Please be aware, the author did say it may not be the end. Yet I do not know how to feel about it.
I am much in love with the characters, and I am not sure if seeing a sequel with their kids would make me happy. While I do understand that their time has come, somehow I feel they found their place and the story has finished nicely. I am equally aware how there are a few stories left untold – on purpose, as the author informed – all so she could go back to the story if she wants to.
Overall I would totally advice you to read this trilogy if you have a chance. It’s a nice story to spend your afternoon and if you don’t want a story that is boring and that can keep you entertained without taking too much of your time this is the perfect choice. The author has done an amazing job with her work and I know there will be days where I will return to her books without a second thought.
But what about you, did you read it?
